Knights of Columbus St Michael Council #11445
May 11, 2025

REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING

Grand Knight LaMorte called regular business meeting to order at 730pm and
proceeded with an opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made to waive reading and approve the minutes of the prior meeting,
which was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.

CHAPLAIN’S REPORT:

  • May 24, Solemn May Crowning, request we attend as a group

REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
Grand Knight (Michael LaMorte)

  • Pub night was a pretty decent turnout
  • Thanks to Br Murray for Carnations for Mothers Days
  • Table runner:
    • Supreme has to approve the vendor for runners
    • Thru KofC Supply they only have table cloths and no runners, going to wait on this
  • Request for Memorial Day Hotdogs, bring up under new business

Treasurer (Chris Axene)

Cleared Balance thru 10 May is $49486.78 with $1.50 interest in April

CD has $9260.28 including $86 in interest for most recent quarter end

Last known available balance (April): $4276.16

Financial Secretary (Matt Decenzo)

Membership (Brett Gissel)

  • Quota, we need ONE more
  • We have ONE in the pipeline
  • We’re going to  have him join this upcoming Sunday, after Mass, in the LMR or Cafeteria

  • Report for insurance is done
  • Council report activities need to be submitted
  • Recruiting wise, not easy getting into OCIA class to talk to them, but a lot were high schoolers regardless

  • Upcoming in June:
    • Mini Golf
  • July we will see about Indian hills pool for pool day
  • Fr Dailey has given the OK for the picnic for Corpus Christi cookout likely after 5PM Mass:
    • Potluck style parish event, will be asking for funding

Life Director (Wayne Lovely)

  • 6820 diapers and 6842 wipes for Bottoms Up
  • For Holy Hour, every first Saturday at 9 am for Respect Life
  • House Bill 835 seeks to legalize assisted suicide in Ohio
    • Greater Columbus Right to Life adamantly opposed

Community Director (Br Amrine)

  • No report BUT…
  • Measure UP
    • Discussions regarding fundraising methodology
    • Is it worth getting a permit to stand in the road?
    • Should we stand at a different corner?
    • Sell Pizza Primo cards for time being

Fish Fry Committee Chairman (Chris Fricke)

  • Again thanks for volunteers for Fish Fry!
  • Going over distributions in new business
  • Made $26977.65

Report on the 4th Degree (Tony Matlak)

  • Just had elections, same as last year with trustees

Scholarship Committee Chairman (John Greve)

  • We have applications and need to meet to pick winner
