March 9, 2025

REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING

Grand Knight LaMorte called regular business meeting to order at 730pm and
proceeded with an opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made to waive reading and approve the minutes of the prior meeting,
which was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.

CHAPLAIN’S REPORT:

  • Fr Dailey requesting us to buy drinks for St Joseph table on March 19
  • Raise request under new business for up to $100 for drinks

REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
Grand Knight (Michael LaMorte)

  • Super Cash Bonanza:
    • Looking for someone to take that over, relatively simple, Br Wade can answer questions
    • Basically a raffle, they go off to state raffle
    • Hand out tickets, put them in the mail, then give the money to Br Decenzo,
    • You will be reimbursed
    • See GK after meeting for that
  • Br Tony Schera going on an Honor Flight on March 26
    • Letters suggested, we should go out to Port Columbus from 8-930 and welcome him home
    • Look in emails for more information
    • Will try to gather together as a group
  • Letter from Apostolate for Family Consecration asking for donations to go to Catholic FamilyLand

Program Director (Brian Elliot)

No report/Not present

Family Director (Sean Murray)

  • After Fish Fry, will look at liturgical calendar and look for community breakfast on the docket
  • Looking at semi-annual breakfast, bring in a charitable organization and let families enjoy breakfast after Mass
  • Shooting for later in April

Council Director (John Greve)

  • Stepping up to GK
  • Someone would need to step up for this social planning chair

Faith Director (Mike Leeuw)

Life Director (Wayne Lovely)

  • Ohio Right to Life stats:
    • Last year, 25135 babies died, 69 a day
    • 1 mother died
    • 5243 abortions from out of state
    • 560 abortions for minors
    • 250 post op complications
    • Chemical abortions on the rise
    • Complication rate associated with chemical abortion is 4x than what it has been in the past
    • 6% of patients needed surgery
    • Less and less care for women post-abortion
  • Saturday March 21 9AM, St Mike’s Respect Life committee is having quarterly meeting, get involved, show up!
  • 40 Days for Life campaign
  • Bear witness that people care!

  • At least 1 annual diaper drive to support Bottoms Up charity

  • There is a new chemical abortion clinic opened between St Mike’s and Josephinum

Community Director (Br Amrine)

  • Ideas:
    • Movie night somewhere, kickball game, any social activity on premises at St Mike’s
    • Clean sheet it, ask around, see Br Amrine for ideas!

Fish Fry Committee Chairman (Chris Fricke)

  • Great numbers in the past 2 weeks
  • If you haven’t made it to one, you got time to show up and show out!
  • In need of people for spring break lull
  • 3 more weeks!

Report on the 4th Degree (Tony Matlak)

  • Exemplification on the 22nd in Marietta
  • Next May 2nd in New Albany, Church of Resurrection
  • No new information for New Albany exemplification.

Scholarship Committee Chairman (John Greve)

  • Applications just now going out

Measure Up (Br Amrine)

  • Flagship program for citizens with developmental disabilities
  • Used to be on the street
  • Could have the fundraiser in Marcus Theater
  • Kroger could be another area to fundraise
  • Last weekend of April at Kroger at Worthington Mall
  • Need volunteers!
  • Bourbon release that morning so come volunteer and get some bourbon too!

Formation/Evangelization (Wayne Lovely)

  • Bringing in an apologist speaker
  • Fireside chats on hiatus until Easter
  • Could meet outside new abortion clinic
  • Next fireside chat in April possibly, see Br Lovely if you want to host!

  • Consider long term financial strategies due to tax bracket fluctuations with KofC life insurance
