Worthy Grand Knights,
I am following up with you to let you and your council membership know what
happened and what is next for current and prospective Fourth Degree
members. *Please share with your council membership as there is an action
item for current and prospective Fourth Degree members.*

We met on March 21 as stated in the email below. Members from St. Michael
and the Josephinum were in attendance. Here is what was discussed and
decided.

The new assembly will be responsible for councils 11445 (St. Michael),
14282 (Our Lady of Peace), 14962 (Immaculate Conception), and 15009
(Josephinum) for activities (including Honor Guards) and recruiting. The
assignment of councils was determined by the District Master. The new
assembly came about from members at St. Michael seeking to have a new
assembly. The current assembly responsible for these councils is Columbian
Martyrs Assembly 2380, which currently has 12 councils assigned and this is
too many for an assembly to manage. Councils 11445, 14282, 14962, and
15009 were assigned to the new assembly to cut back on the number of
councils that assembly 2380 would be responsible for and due to proximity
to make it easier for members to attend assembly meetings if they wish to.

There will be an *exemplification of the Fourth Degree on Monday, April 25* in
the evening at St. Michael to join the Fourth Degree. Another date may be
announced later for those seeking to join the Fourth Degree and are unable
to attend on April 25. The cost for the exemplification is $50 for new
members and free for current Fourth Degree members. This covers the
material the District Master is required to provide by the Supreme Assembly.

*Members that wish to join the Fourth Degree and are not yet Third Degree
members* should plan to attend an exemplification of Charity, Unity, and
Fraternity. One will be held on *Monday, April 11 at St. Michael*. Any
interested should arrive by 6:30 p.m.

*Current Fourth Degree members will not be automatically transferred into
the new assembly during the formation of the assembly*. *If a current
Fourth Degree member wishes to be part of the new assembly, they must
transfer.* *To transfer, please complete the attached fillable Form 4
membership document and send to me at " >
<" >>*. Complete as much of sections 1 through 4 as
possible and include your membership number where indicated in the top
right.

In order *to be counted as a Charter Member, a Form 4 for either a transfer
or new member must be received by April 25*.

It was decided that the assembly *meetings will be held on the second
Monday of the month at 6:45 p.m. in the Lower Meeting Room at St. Michael*.
The first regularly scheduled meeting will be on May 9 and a special
meeting will be held to finalize Charter Officers with the exemplification
on April 25

The *name selected for the assembly is Chris Damo*. We will submit this
along with supporting information about Chris as our first choice. If this
is not accepted we will discuss at assembly meetings and select another
name.

*Charter officers of the assembly will be finalized on Monday, April 25*.
Below are the assembly offices with their council counterparts in
parentheses, the names that have been proposed to fill them and any other
information associated with the role also in parentheses. The Charter
Officers will be finalized on April 25. Although nominations will be open
through April 25, please let me know if you are interested in filling any
of the officer roles:

– Faithful Navigator (Grand Knight) – Peter Schera
– Faithful Captain (Deputy Grand Knight) – Chris Fricke
– Faithful Pilot (Warden; may also be responsible for communicating
Color Corps activities) – NONE
– Faithful Comptroller (Financial Secretary) – Matt DeCenzo
– Faithful Scribe (Recorder) – NONE
– Faithful Purser (Treasurer) – Dan Rankin
– Faithful Inner Sentinel (Inside Guard) – NONE
– Faithful Outer Sentinel (Outside Guard) – NONE
– Faithful Admiral (Chancellor; Serves as Membership Director; shall be
chosen from the Past Faithful Navigators of the assembly, if there are any)
– Chris Fricke and Brett Gissel
– Faithful Trustee (Trustee; 3 roles with terms of 3 years; the initial
officers selected to terms of 3 years, 2 years, and 1 year so that one
3-year Trustee is elected each year) – Joe Koehler (3 year term), Mike
Rerko (1 year term), and NONE (2 year term)
– Faithful Friar (Chaplain) – Appointed role to be determined after
election of officers
– Color Corps Commander – Appointed role to be determined after
election of officers

Participation in Color Corps events is not necessary. It does help to have
a good turnout at requested events and even more so to have Fourth Degree
members from the council holding the event to participate.

*Those wishing to participate in Color Corps activities will need to
purchase the Fourth Degree uniform, white gloves, a sword (with scabbard),
and a service baldric*. The unform is available at kofcuniform.com and has
a listed price of $449. The only optional item you need from those offered
on the website are white gloves, which may also be found elsewhere (like
music supply stores). The sword and service baldric are available at The
English Company <www.kofcsupplies.com/Category/4thdegreecolorcorps>.
Unless you have held an office in the Fourth Degree that says otherwise,
you need a silver sword with a black handle ($149; more if you choose to
personalize) and a service baldric with a silver clip ($28.80).

Again, *I need membership Form 4’s from current members transferring to the
new assembly and new members by April 25 to be counted as Charter members.*

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you,
Brett Gissel
