November Faith Report from the Council Business Meeting

Christmas Mass: Please see the bulletin regarding letting the Church know if you will attend mass for Christmas. They are trying to get a count to figure out how many masses they will need to accommodate everyone. This is not a reservation system but rather a way to plan and seat based on demand. You can complete the survey on the parish website.

Men’s Faith and Fellowship: They are still meeting on Saturday mornings from 6:45-8:15 am or on Tuesday’s from 7:50-9:10 (same program, just twice weekly) for weekly presentations and discussions on THAT MAN IS YOU. Please reach out to Bill Shirk at .

Right to Life: Our Catholic faith has two very fundamental truths…the sanctity of marriage and sanctity of life from conception to natural death. October was Right to Life month, it was also a brutal war in this country between politicians who act like gods and people who follow them blindly and have considered what they say to be the absolute truth. I was shocked at the many Catholics including friends and family members who sit by while babies are killed, who justify the Left’s agenda every time I bring up why I cannot support the Left because of abortion. Many had no idea that New York allows a baby to be aborted after 24 weeks up to and including birth if the practitioner (Doctor) deems it medically necessary.

Where have we gone as a Church and as Catholics if we can’t protect the most innocent of life? Where are we as Catholics if we can’t stand up to this evil? Where is the outrage at the outright murder going on and the acceptance by many so-called Catholics like one who is becoming our next president? Who really is the party of hate, Republicans, Trump? Or the party that killed nearly 1 million babies in 2019; 61.8 million since 1973; mostly in far left states, including many strong Catholic states like New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. Where are the “Every Baby’s Lives Matter” signs?

The Romans acted like our politicians do today, as they allowed babies to be killed. Look at them now. The Mayans sacrificed babies to their pagan gods, look at them now. The Incas practiced child sacrifices, look at them now. God will always win in the end. Sometimes he sends down the angels, sometimes he changes the hearts and minds and makes us His angels on Earth.

My point you ask… well my point is we as Catholics need to take a hard look at who we are and where we are going as a faith. Way too many of us are accepting pagan and atheistic thoughts from so-called leaders such as what is marriage and what is right with regards to life and death and who survives and who can be killed. No longer can we sit back and just be a Right to Life Month…it needs to be Right to Life Day every day, otherwise, what do you believe if you can’t take care of the most innocent and precious of life? Nothing else matters if we can’t do that. How do you think a politician is going to save you if they don’t care about a baby’s life?

We need to change the narrative out in the world and need to do it now. I know many will shrug it off. I am used to it over the last two months from fellow Catholics who tell me it is a woman’s choice… it isn’t a woman’s choice. It’s God’s. Where is the family in that discussion anyway? It takes two to have a kid. Where is God in that discussion? He is the center of all things, or should be. LIFE is given from God, not by politicians, the media, or entertainers; rather it is only given by God. Protect it and start to speak up about it now. Don’t want to listen to the average Dave like me? Fine, please listen to two Saints that have lived through the war on abortion since Roe v Wade. (btw Roe never actually had an abortion)

– St. Mother Teresa said “America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has shown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father’s role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts – a child – as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience. It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the independent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters. And in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners. Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being’s entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign.”

– St. Mother Teresa goes on to say

“Any country that accepts abortion, is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what it wants.”

”We must not be surprised when we hear of murders, killings, of wars, or of
hatred…If a mother can kill her own child, what is left but for us to kill each
other?”

I will leave you with St. John Paul II who told us as Catholics that,

“You are called to stand up for life! To respect and defend the mystery of life always and everywhere, including the lives of unborn babies, giving real help and encouragement to mothers in difficult situations. You are called to work and pray against abortion.”

“Never tire of firmly speaking out in defense of life from its conception and do not
be deterred from the commitment to defend the dignity of every human person
with courageous determination. Christ is with you: be not afraid!”

In the time it took me to talk about Abortion, 4 babies were killed. One every 96 seconds.
