March 10, 2025

REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING

Grand Knight LaMorte called regular business meeting to order at 7:30pm and proceeded with opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made to waive reading and approve the minutes of the prior meeting, which was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.

CHAPLAIN’S REPORT:

Not Present/No Report

REPORTS OF OFFICERS

Grand Knight (Michael LaMorte):

  1. Fish Fry kickoff seemed to go pretty well… except:
    1. there was a fight up on the ball field
    2. kids were running around and throwing a football in the cafeteria
    3. Some other cleanup issues that need addressed
      1. Door was left unlock at the bottom of the stairwell.
      2. Kitchen warmer was left on all weekend.
      3. I was told all the coffee packets were used out of the upstairs kitchen
  2. March 29, (Founders Day): Faith by fireside at GK LaMorte house. Topic will be “How has KofC made you a better man?” Should be a good time!

Treasurer (Chris Axene)

    1. cleared balance through 2/28 is $32,672.92.  This includes 89 cents of interest for the month and a deposit in transit of $1,877.
    2. Fish fry bank of $860 included above.
    3. Checks we just wrote on Friday are included in the above balance
    4. We got an ACH debit for $1,162.10 for G&J pepsi –  included above
    5. Does not include results of fish fry week 1.

Financial Secretary’s Report (Matt Decenzo)

  • Receipts: Hoagies for Heaven: $5746
  • FF Proceeds: TBD
  • Net: $13772.14
  • Expenses: $6880.76
  • A motion was made to pay the bills as read. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.

Family Director (Sean Murray)

Council Director (John Greve)

  • St. Patrick’s Day social at Greve’s house. Please RSVP direct to Greve. He’s having corned beef and Irish stout.

Faith Director (Bill Hinger)

  • Reminder on Lenten Promises – do it if you haven’t already.
  • 40 days for Adoration. March 25th for St. Michael
  • Solemnity for St. Joseph 3/19
  • Annunciation 3/25
  • Shroud of Turin exhibit at St. John Neumann Sunbury: 3/8-3/13 multiple times
  • Jubilee Pilgrimage w/Bishop Fernandes
  • Rosary Wednesday mornings

Life Director (Wayne Lovely)

    • Our diaper drive yielded 1,856 diapers and 4,496 wipes for PDHC.
    • With Respect Life, we are sponsoring a half day of 40 Days for Life, 8am-1pm on Friday the 28th. Please keep an eye on the bulletin for links to sign up for an hour.

Community Director (Greg Kociba)

  • Ash Wednesday, March 5
    • Go to Mass
    • Special Olympics (basketball) – Battle of Worthington at Thomas Worthington. Brother Peter Schera played, congratulations and Peter scored!!
    • Trying to get more involved with Worthington Special Olympics — special thanks to all who attended

Fish Fry Committee Chairmen (Chris Fricke)

  • Thank you for all week 1 volunteers.  Excellent first night.  455 fish, 41 Mac n cheese, 37 specials. 533 total
  • Better than last year/past couple years
  • Need help with upcoming week, please consider volunteering!

  • Next 4th Degree Ceremony – Saturday, May 10, Our Lady of Lourdes, Marysville

Scholarship Committee Chairman (John Greve)

  • No report

Measure Up (Greg Kociba)

  • Getting kicked off. April 26th
  • Need permits from everyone, even if you think you can make it.
  • No cost to sign form. No commitment to be there but necessary for the day of events

Formation/Evangelization (Wayne Lovely)

  • Thank you, Brother Schilling for hosting last month’s Faith by Fireside.
  • Our next Faith by Fireside will be Saturday, March 29, (Founders Day) at Grand Knight LaMorte’s home.
  • We’re hosting a talk, St. Joseph: A Man of Virtue, by Fr. Daniel Bowen, Tuesday, March 18. See the bulletin for a link to RSVP
  • A volunteer is needed to help with refreshments.
  • Need a motion to pay for the refreshments and honorarium from the Formation & Evangelization set-aside

Chancellor’s Report on Vocations (Tom Messina)

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

  1. Vestments for Fr. Johnstone, tabled until next month so we can do more research.
    1. Fr. Johnstone will look into it and get back to us

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Brother Kash: moves to honorarium and drink and refreshments
    1. Discussion: $1,271.75 for events in set asides
    2. Up to $200 for drinks and refreshments and $150 for honorarium fee
    3. Moved and voted. Motion carries with no opposition
  2. Brother Joe: moves to donate proceeds of sub sale in same proportion of 2024 – Serra Club, Friends of Josephinum and Good and Growing Need
    1. Seconded.
    2. Discussion: the organizations don’t approach us usually but Serra Club and FOJ do exist still.
    3. Voted and motion carried
  3. Brother Joe: badges: prices are between $15-20.  For Capital Awards don’t have the medallions. Joe will be willing to take charge of ordering. Brother LaMorte will look at the pricing for them too through knights

LECTURER’S REFLECTION

  • Brother Wade gave a nice reflection St. Joseph and appreciation, thinking about those around us and how we can appreciate them.
