With the Knights’ state convention coming up, the deadline for submitting resolutions is upon us. In order for our council to submit a resolution it needs to be read twice. Since we won’t have the opportunity to do so at two consecutive business meetings, I’m calling a special meeting this Friday at 7:45 (right after the fish fry) to read the resolution, below, entitled “Council Membership Directors Access To Online Member Contact Information.”
The short version is, Council Membership Directors don’t have online access to Supreme’s membership portal to process members coming to us when they register online. This is a major headache, as the Membership Director has to get the Grand Knight or Financial Secretary to do it. The proposed resolution fixes that problem.
We’ll meet in the cafeteria at 7:45 to read the resolution, then we can read and vote on it at the regular business meeting on Monday, March 9th. Reading this resolution will be the only thing that we’ll do, and attendance is optional.
If you’re at the fish fry, just come down to the cafeteria at 7:45 and we’ll get this done quickly.

COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORS ACCESS TO ONLINE MEMBER CONTACT INFORMATION
WHEREAS, the growth of our Order and subordinate councils with new members is vital for our continued longevity and increasing our charitable services ; and
WHEREAS, Supreme Council has made online membership available to be more efficient because “It’s quick. It’s easy. It’s immediate.” (Why Online Membership | Knights of Columbus); and
WHEREAS, “Membership growth is the State Deputy’s highest and most important priority” (State Deputy Handbook, p. 7) with Membership growth quotas for each jurisdiction and local council; and
WHEREAS, “for the vast majority of members – a local council provides the best membership experience” (Why Online Membership | Knights of Columbus ); and
WHEREAS, the direction from Supreme Council when organizing a Council Membership Committee is that “The grand knight appoints a membership director to oversee all membership programs and recruitment activities.” (Organizing Your Membership Committees | Knights of Columbus); and
WHEREAS, Council Membership Directors do not have access to the Prospect Tab in Officers Online, where the contact information of Online Members is available; and
WHEREAS, Council Membership Directors do not receive the same notifications about new Online Members assigned to their council as the Grand Knights and Financial Secretaries do and must wait for someone to forward their information;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Supreme Council provide Council Membership Directors access to the Prospect Tab in Officers Online; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that if a Council Membership Director role in the Prospect Tab in Officers Online is not possible that Supreme Council develop and provide some other means of providing contact information of Online Members assigned to a council to the Council Membership Directors; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that until Supreme Council provides a more efficient means of getting contact information of Online Members assigned to a Council directly to the Council Membership Director, State Councils will provide to their Council Membership Directors the same notifications of new Online Members assigned to a council as they provide to their Grand Knights and Financial Secretaries.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the above actions be taken with the goal of improving efficiency for the Council Membership Director to connect with Online Members regarding their joining the local council.
