February 10, 2025

REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING

Grand Knight LaMorte called regular business meeting to order at 7:30pm and proceeded with opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made to waive reading and approve the minutes of the prior meeting, which was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.

CHAPLAIN’S REPORT:

Not Present/No Report

REPORTS OF OFFICERS

Grand Knight (Michael LaMorte):

  • Hoagies for Heaven – 686 subs sold, 90 fewer than last years. An anonymous Knight covered the difference. $4,900 was raised for vocations, $11.22 more made than last year.
  • March 19 – Father asked us to sponsor the St. Joseph’s Table event by providing drinks (see New Business)
  • The Grand Knight wants to try and bring back the Spaghetti Dinner
  • The Building the Domestic Church kiosk needs to be restocked with booklets.

Treasurer (Chris Axene)

    1. Our checking balance through today is $37,522.15.  This includes 93 cents of interest income for Jan.
    2. Included in the above balance are the checks I just gave you on Friday as well as the deposits in transit you handed to me.
    3. For your info during Jan and first part of Feb we had $6,055.48 of net deposits come through the Square app – combination of Dues and Hoagies sales – which are also included in the above balance.  I haven’t run a report yet to determine how much was specifically one vs the other.

Financial Secretary’s Report (Matt Decenzo)

  • A motion was made to pay the bills as read. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.

Membership (Brett Gissel)

  • A transfer application was introduced from Godwin Gandu, coming from St. Paul’s council. A motion was made to approve the application. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.

Life Director (Wayne Lovely)

  • Ways to recommit yourself to the protection of life:
    1. Pray
    2. Fast
    3. Give
  • Pray for Life: Commit to a regular Holy Hour for life in our Adoration Chapel. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in supporting life.
  • Planned Parenthood has expanded their abortion offerings by two clinics in our state.
    1. Their Athens center now offers the abortion pill, and they have acquired Women’s Med in Dayton to expand their surgical abortion offerings.
    2. In addition, there is at least one entity newly providing abortions in Central Ohio: Jensen Family Health in Lewis Center.
  • The number of abortions reported by Ohio’s regulated clinics is likely to be 30,000 or more in 2024, nearly doubling from 2022.
  • Sidewalk Counseling
    • Attend a training session to learn more!
  • National Marriage Week, February 7-14th
  • Diaper drive
    • February 1 – 16. Donations will go to Pregnancy Decision Health Center. Volunteer needed to inventory and drop off donations. Thank you to Sean Murray for lending pack n play. Another drive is planned in May to support Bottom’s Up.
  • Special Olympics – Ohio
    • State Indoor Winter Games (Swimming, Basketball and Cheerleading) at Ohio State, March 7-9, 2025. Volunteer links shared by email.

  1. A motion was made to support St. Joseph’s Table on March 19 by providing up to $500 for the purchase of beverages. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.
  2. A motion was made to spend $150 to restock the Building the Domestic Church kiosk.. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote without objections.
