Brother Knights-
Many of you have become familiar over the last couple years with the Sub Zero Mission. Several years ago the late Cris Damo invited this group from Cleveland to Columbus to provide warming equipment to homeless in our area. In subsequent years, Brother Greg Eckert has continued to work with Sub Zero to have them come back to Columbus every year. Over the years our Council and many of your personally have donated to Sub Zero to help with their mission.
At the business meeting this past week the Council was introduced to a new charitable organization, Mission Warmth. Mission Warmth is a fully formed 501(c)(3) organization. The Mission was founded this year by Brother Greg Eckert and Elaine Damo, wife of the late Cris Damo. The purpose of the mission is to carry on the mission of Sub Zero in a more direct and impactful way. Mission Warmth has partnered with Sub Zero to stand up the organization and with a local “chapter”, Mission Warmth now hopes to quadruple the output of support that Sub Zero was able to provide here in Columbus.
Mission Warmth will carry on the direct mission of Sub Zero to provide warming equipment (i.e., jackets, gloves, hats, boots, tents, sleeping bags and more) to homeless throughout the Columbus area. With a special focus on reaching out to Veterans in need and going deep into homeless camps, Mission Warmth hopes to serve hundreds of homeless this winter.
We invite you to support Mission Warmth. At the business meeting this week it was resolved that our Council would match donations made by individual Knights up to $500. In this way, any donation that you provide could in essence be doubled to directly support the delivery of warming equipment to homeless this winter. If you are interested in donating, you can visit the Mission Warmth account at https://account.venmo.com/u/missionwarmth, or you can make a check payable to Mission Warmth and send it to the following address:
Mission Warmth3086 Brookdown Dr.Columbus, OH 43235
If you are interested in learning more about the mission, we invite you to follow us at https://www.facebook.com/missionwarmthohio, or you can send an email to and ask to be added to our future mailings.
Thank you and God Bless,Greg Eckert, Matt DeCenzo
