Tuesday the Serra Club of North Columbus held a luncheon which was attended by over 100 boys from Catholic schools throughout the diocese, from grades 8 through 12. Also in attendance were seminarians from the Josephinum who sat at the tables of the students for fellowship and Q&A. Bishop Brennan was also in attendance.
The Serra Club’s mission is to encourage, increase, and support priestly and consecrated religious vocations. Once again Fr. William Hahn, vocations director for the Diocese of Columbus, spoke to the students about discerning the call to vocations.
Over the summer, our council voted to fully fund the Serra Club North’s vocations luncheons for teenage girls and boys. This was funded solely by our annual Hoagies for Heaven vocations fundraiser, which would not have been possible without the help of all the volunteers from our council who helped take orders, assemble, and distribute subs. Thanks to you, these young men got to hear an inspiring speech by Fr. Hahn, tour the Josephinum grounds, and spend time in fellowship with the seminarians.
Our next Hoagies for Heaven fundraiser is tentatively scheduled for mid-January. More details to come.
